" Jershua Hallock was the daughter of William Hallock & Mary ? A few generations back we get Peter Hallock, our first Hallock ancestor. He landed at Hallock's Neck, Southold, LI, in 1640 (one reference I found says he came in 1623 & went back to England & returned a second time). He came with Rev John Youngs. He was the first of thirteen men who composed the colony to "set foot in the shore of the Indians". For this reason that part of the village was named Hallock's Neck and the beach extending from it was Hallock's beach. Supposedly there is still a Hallock's Beach still there but I didn't find it on the map.



Peter Hallock had only one son named William. He was born and died in Mattituck. He died Sept 28, 1684, will probated Oct 21, 1684 - which is preserved in the ancient records of both Suffolk county & New York City." ( wonder if it is still there?)"171
